We are glad you were able to help us celebrate Harford Community College’s 60th anniversary at Harford Fest. WHFC was there during the morning and we hope you got a chance to say hello.
The first event of the day was the Heather L. Hurd 5K Spooktacular. Registration began at 8 AM; the race began at 9 AM on the HCC campus. This event honors the memory of Heather L. Hurd, a history major at HCC from 1999 to 2003 who was killed in 2008 by a distracted driver who was texting. Explore Harford’s campus on a course that is great for runners and walkers alike. Children will delight in all the treats of the Children’s Area, a costume contest, and the chance to take pictures with special guest characters. There will also be exhibitors and interactive displays for all ages. Proceeds benefit Remembrance Book Scholarships. Register or donate: http://www.harford.edu/heather.
HCC’s Fall Open House will showcase the College’s programs and services in the APGFCU Arena and feature interactive displays, demonstrations, and performances for all ages. Throughout campus there will be games and activities, food trucks, live music, hot-air balloon rides, and more! Activities will also take place in the Chesapeake Center and Hays-Heighe House. View Harford Community College’s 60th anniversary oral history video project highlighting the history of HCC through interviews, take a historical walking tour of campus, and see our anniversary exhibit. Events and activities are scheduled from 9:30 AM to 3 PM.
The day will conclude with Stayin Alive: Bee Gees Tribute at 7 PM in the Amoss Center. Encompassing more than five decades of legendary music and the distinctive vocal sound of the Bee Gees at their very best, Stayin Alive offers a unique opportunity for fans to rediscover the music that has ensured the Bee Gees’ place as one of the most loved bands of all time.
