Harford Dance Theatre Presents Kinetic Canvas: Vincent Van Gogh

Harford Dance Theatre will present Kinetic Canvas: Vincent Van Gogh on Friday, August 3 at 8 PM and Saturday, August 4, at 6 PM in the Chesapeake Theater at Harford Community College.

The Kinetic Canvas series returns with an original dance theater production inspired by Post-Impressionist artist Vincent Van Gogh. This innovative performance takes the audience on a journey through the eyes of Van Gogh, with a heightened view of the natural world, exploring radiating light and powerful expressionism.

An hour before each performance, audience members are invited to an informative discussion on Van Gogh and Post-Impressionism presented by Jeff Ball, Associate Professor of Visual, Performing and Applied Arts at Harford Community College.

Harford Community College Employee Leanna Gefrich Receives Champions for Children and Youth Award

The 6th Annual Harford County Champions for Children and Youth Awards ceremony took place on Friday, June 22, at Harford Community College’s Chesapeake Center. Leanna Gefrich, Coordinator for Youth Programs at the College was one of the recipients of the Champion for Children awards. This award, presented by the Harford County Department of Community Services Local Management Board, honors those who have made a major contribution in Harford County to help improve the lives of children and young adults through the age of 21. Introductory remarks expressing appreciation for all those who have made a difference in children’s lives were made by Kevin Keegan, Chair of the Harford County Local Management Board.

From a flourishing summer camps program to the College’s Fine Art Academy to her commitment to Destination Imagination, Leanna is truly deserving of this honor. As Coordinator for Youth Programs, Leanna has led Harford Community College in offering a wide array of youth camps, programs, and classes to youth in this community from preschoolers through high school. Youth courses have over 4,200 enrollments per year in 340 course sections.
